2-in-1 Tesla Adapter for CCS1 and J1772:

ChargePapa Technical Editorial

🔌 ChargePapa Tesla-Link 2-in-1 Series

2-in-1 Helps? Why
Frequent road trips with mixed station types Yes One unit covers both CCS1 DC and J1772 AC stops on the same route
Apartment or workplace charging with J1772 only Not much A dedicated J1772-to-Tesla adapter is usually enough and simpler
Home charging setup decision Usually no Home charging is a separate equipment and circuit question — not an adapter question
Older Tesla without confirmed CCS support No The DC side still depends on vehicle CCS communication capability
Minimalist travel kit for Tesla owners Yes Fewer separate pieces to carry and track on long-distance trips
Tesla Cybertruck owners No Cybertruck uses a different charge port specification — not compatible with this adapter series

Usually when the driver only uses one charging path. Here are the cleaner dedicated alternatives:

J1772 AC Only

Use a Dedicated J1772 Adapter

If your real need is J1772 AC charging only, a dedicated adapter is simpler, lighter, and usually less expensive. The ChargePapa Tesla-Link J1772 Ultra covers up to 80A / 240VAC with CE, FCC, and UL certifications.

Tesla-Link J1772 Ultra →
CCS1 DC Only

Use a Dedicated CCS1 Adapter

If you only need DC fast charging and your vehicle confirms CCS Enabled, a dedicated CCS1 adapter is the cleaner single-purpose tool rated up to 500V DC / 250kW.

Tesla-Link CCS1 →
Home Charging

Home Setup Is a Separate Question

If your real question is home charging current, outlet choice, or installation, this adapter category is not the center of the answer. Home charging requires a different equipment decision.

Use this decision framework before purchasing:

Question 1

How often do you use CCS1 DC chargers?

If rarely or never, the DC side of a 2-in-1 adds cost without benefit. A dedicated J1772 adapter is the better fit.

Question 2

How often do you use J1772 AC stations?

If rarely or never, a dedicated CCS1 adapter is the simpler and more focused choice.

Question 3

Does your Tesla support CCS charging?

Check: Controls → Software → Additional Vehicle Information. Must show Enabled for the DC side to work at all.

Question 4

Are you optimizing for one clean travel kit?

If yes and both station types appear in your regular pattern, a 2-in-1 makes a lot more sense than carrying two separate adapters.

✅ The Right CTA Is Not “Buy More”

If the answer to both station-type questions is “often,” a 2-in-1 adapter makes a lot more sense. If one side is rare or never used, separate dedicated paths are usually more rational. The best purchase is the one that matches your actual charging behavior — not the one with the most connectors.

Is a 2-in-1 Tesla adapter mainly for home charging?

No. A 2-in-1 Tesla adapter is usually more useful for mixed public charging, where you may see both CCS1 DC fast chargers and J1772 AC Level 2 stations in the same travel pattern. Home charging is a separate equipment and circuit question that this adapter category does not address.

If I only use J1772 chargers, should I still buy a 2-in-1 adapter?

Usually not. If your real need is only J1772 AC charging, a dedicated J1772-to-Tesla adapter is usually the simpler and more focused choice. The ChargePapa Tesla-Link J1772 to Tesla (NACS) AC Charging Adapter Ultra (80A · 240VAC · CE FCC UL · IP65) is designed for exactly that use case.

Can a 2-in-1 Tesla adapter work if my Tesla does not support CCS?

Only the J1772 AC side would remain relevant. The CCS1 DC side still depends on the vehicle supporting CCS communication. Tesla says not all vehicles are equipped with CCS charging capability. Check the vehicle screen under Controls → Software → Additional Vehicle Information before relying on the DC path.

Does a 2-in-1 adapter replace Tesla Supercharger authorization rules?

No. Physical connector fit and adapter category do not override station, vehicle, or network authorization rules. Supercharger access authorization is a separate layer from connector compatibility.

Is a 2-in-1 adapter better for travel than two separate adapters?

Sometimes yes — specifically for road-trip drivers who park at mixed public sites and want one grab-and-go kit in the trunk. It is not automatically better for home-only charging, older Teslas with uncertain CCS support, or buyers who only ever use one station type.

Is the ChargePapa Tesla-Link 2-in-1 adapter compatible with the Tesla Cybertruck?

No. The Tesla Cybertruck uses a different charge port specification and is not compatible with the ChargePapa Tesla-Link CCS1 & J1772 to Tesla 2-in-1 series. Do not use this adapter with a Cybertruck.
