Test the Charging Point.

Before You Blame the Car.

The ChargePapa StationCheck is an AC EVSE diagnostic simulator for installers, support teams, property managers, fleet operators, and EVSE resellers who need to test charging station behavior without using a customer vehicle as the first diagnostic step.

It simulates charging states, PE behavior, CP/PE fault paths, and cable-resistance conditions so teams can narrow the issue before replacing hardware or moving vehicles between bays.

AC only. StationCheck is for AC Level 1 / Level 2 EVSE testing. It is not designed for DC fast charging stations.

Station-Side Diagnostics

Station-Side Response

Check AC charging station behavior before treating the vehicle, driver settings, or adapter path as the source of the problem.

PE / CP Fault Simulation

Simulate CP errors, PE errors, cable resistance, and charging states A, B, C, and D for repeatable troubleshooting.

Commissioning & Handover

Fits commissioning, handover checks, support triage, warehouse QC, and property or fleet maintenance workflows.

Three Interface Versions

Choose the version that matches the AC charging station: SAE J1772 / Type 1, Type 2 European Standard, or NACS-style AC interface.

What StationCheck Actually Tests

In AC EV charging, the station and vehicle communicate through control and protective-earth paths before charging begins. StationCheck simulates selected vehicle-side states so the charging station can be checked without using a real EV as the first diagnostic tool.

Charging states A/B/C/D — checks whether the AC station responds as simulated charging-state conditions change.
PE pre-test — supports protective-earth related checks before a real vehicle is involved.
CP / PE error simulation — helps teams observe repeatable station-side fault responses.
Cable resistance simulation — helps teams observe how station behavior changes under simulated cable-resistance conditions.

Where It Fits in the Charging Workflow

Installation commissioning — Check station response before handover instead of waiting for the first customer vehicle to reveal a fault.
Red fault diagnosis — Use it when a charger shows a red fault, ground warning, or failed session start.
Pre-dispatch QC and support triage — Test station-side behavior before approving a replacement or return.
Property and fleet maintenance — Run repeatable checks across multiple AC charging points without moving vehicles bay to bay.

Choose the Right Interface Version

Choose StationCheck by the charging station connector you need to test, not by the vehicle brand parked nearby. The tool simulates the vehicle-side response for that AC interface, so the correct SKU starts with the station plug standard.

SKU Interface Test Object Typical Market Notes
StationCheck-J SAE J1772 / Type 1 J1772 AC charging stations North America AC charging stations Choose this when the station cable or connector is SAE J1772 / Type 1.
StationCheck-T2 Type 2 European Standard Type 2 AC charging stations Europe / Type 2 AC charging stations Choose this for Type 2 AC stations, including single-phase and three-phase diagnostic workflows.
StationCheck-N NACS / Tesla-style AC interface NACS AC charging stations North America NACS AC charging sites Choose this for NACS AC interface checks only. Not for DC Supercharger testing.

How to Choose Your StationCheck SKU

Fast rule: match the SKU to the AC station connector. If your team services more than one connector standard, choose one tester for each interface.

StationCheck-J
SAE J1772 / Type 1

Choose this for J1772 AC Level 1 / Level 2 charging stations.

Europe / Type 2
StationCheck-T2
Type 2 European Standard

Choose this for Type 2 AC stations, including single-phase and three-phase sites.

NACS AC
StationCheck-N

Choose this for NACS AC interface checks. Not for DC Supercharger testing.

Who Is StationCheck Built For?

For an installer in Los Angeles commissioning SAE J1772 AC stations for Ford F-150 Lightning and Chevrolet Bolt owners, StationCheck helps verify the station response before the first handover appointment.

For a property manager in Chicago running shared Level 2 charging in an apartment garage, it creates a repeatable way to check station-side behavior before moving tenant vehicles between bays.

For a fleet team in Seattle managing NACS AC charging points for Tesla Model 3, Model Y, and newer NACS-equipped vehicles, the NACS version tests AC interface behavior without treating Supercharger access as part of the workflow.

For a service workshop in Berlin supporting Type 2 European Standard AC stations, the Type 2 version fits single-phase and three-phase diagnostic workflows under the IEC/EN 61851-1 charging protocol context.

🎯 Which StationCheck Is Right for You?

Match the tester to the AC station connector — not the vehicle brand. Two questions, 30 seconds.

Step 1 — What connector does the AC charging station use?

🔌 SAE J1772 / Type 1 North America

Standard AC Level 1 / Level 2 stations in the US and Canada. Most residential and commercial EVSE installed before 2024.

🇪🇺 Type 2 (IEC 62196) Europe / AU

European standard AC stations — single-phase and three-phase. Dominant in EU, UK, Australia, and international deployments.

NACS / SAE J3400 AC NACS AC Sites

NACS-style AC charging points (not DC Superchargers). Tesla Destination Chargers and NACS AC wallboxes. AC interface only.

Step 2 — What is your primary workflow?

🏗️
Installation & Commissioning

Verify station response before handover. Catch faults before the first customer vehicle arrives on site.

💡 How to identify the station connector: Look at the cable end that plugs into the vehicle — not the wall socket. A J-shaped single-pin connector = SAE J1772 / Type 1 (North America). A round 7-pin connector = Type 2 (Europe/AU). A slim oval connector = NACS / SAE J3400 AC. If the station has a tethered cable, the connector type is visible at the cable tip. If it has a socket (untethered), check the station label or spec sheet for the standard. StationCheck-N is for AC NACS wallboxes only — not for DC Tesla Supercharger testing.

Frequently Asked Questions

Q: What is an AC EVSE diagnostic simulator?

A: An AC EVSE diagnostic simulator is a tool that imitates selected vehicle-side charging states so an AC charging station can be tested without relying on a real EV. ChargePapa StationCheck helps technicians check whether the station responds correctly before blaming the vehicle, cable, or driver settings.

Q: Can StationCheck help diagnose a red fault light on an EV charger?

A: Yes. StationCheck can support red fault light diagnosis by helping a trained technician test station-side behavior, PE response, CP signal behavior, and simulated fault conditions. It does not identify every possible cause by itself, but it makes the troubleshooting path more repeatable.

Q: Is this product for EV owners or installers?

A: StationCheck is mainly for installers, EVSE service teams, property managers, fleet maintenance teams, and technical support workflows. A normal EV owner usually does not need this tool unless they manage charging equipment or perform technical checks regularly.

Q: Does StationCheck charge an electric vehicle?

A: No. StationCheck is not a charger and does not charge an EV. It is a diagnostic simulator used to test how an AC charging station behaves under simulated charging states and fault conditions.

Q: Can this test a Tesla Supercharger?

A: No. StationCheck is for AC charging station testing. The NACS version is for NACS-style AC interface checks, not DC Tesla Supercharger testing, authorization testing, or fast-charging network access.

Q: Which StationCheck SKU should I choose?

A: Choose by the AC charging station connector. StationCheck-J is for SAE J1772 / Type 1 stations, StationCheck-T2 is for Type 2 European Standard stations, and StationCheck-N is for NACS / Tesla-style AC interface checks. The NACS version is AC only, not for Tesla Supercharger or DC fast-charging testing.

Q: What does CP and PE mean in EV charging?

A: CP means control pilot, the signal path used by AC charging equipment to communicate charging state and available current. PE means protective earth, the grounding path used for electrical safety. Problems in either path can cause fault lights, failed starts, or interrupted sessions.
