⚡ What is Vehicle-to-Load (V2L)?

Vehicle-to-Load (V2L) is a bidirectional energy feature built into select electric vehicles. Rather than drawing power into the battery, V2L reverses the flow — sending stored energy out through the charging port to power external AC devices. The ChargePapa V2L-US adapter enables this capability on any J1772-equipped EV with V2L support, converting your car into a portable generator rated up to 1.8kW.

The V2L-US is compatible with SAE J1772-equipped electric vehicles that support Vehicle-to-Load output. Confirmed compatible models include the Hyundai IONIQ 5 and IONIQ 6, Kia EV6 and EV9, Genesis GV60 and GV70e, Ford F-150 Lightning (Pro Power Onboard), and Rivian R1T and R1S. Other J1772 EVs with V2L capability are also supported.

Note: Tesla vehicles use the NACS (SAE J3400) connector. For Tesla V2L, please refer to the ChargePapa Power-Bridge NACS V2L Adapter. Always verify your vehicle supports V2L before purchasing.

Common V2L-capable models include the Hyundai IONIQ 5/6, Kia EV6/EV9, Ford F-150 Lightning, and Rivian R1T/R1S.

Q: How much power can I draw through this adapter?

A: The V2L-US supports up to 15A MAX at 120V AC, delivering approximately 1.8kW of continuous power. The actual output is also limited by your vehicle’s V2L rating — some vehicles cap V2L output at lower levels regardless of the adapter.

Q: Will V2L drain my EV battery significantly?

A: Yes — powering external devices draws from your EV’s battery pack. At 1.8kW continuous draw, a 75kWh battery would deplete in approximately 40 hours under ideal conditions. Monitor your state of charge and plan accordingly for extended use.

Q: Can I use this adapter to charge my EV?
