Which EVs Support V2L?
Turn your electric vehicle into a mobile power station. This guide covers every confirmed V2L-capable platform in 2026 — and exactly which adapter you need.
Last updated: 2026-05-20 · Data sourced from manufacturer owner's manuals and official specification sheets. V2L availability varies by trim level, model year, and regional market.
What Is V2L (Vehicle-to-Load)?
V2L is a bidirectional power function built into select EVs that routes AC electricity from the main traction battery to external devices. Unlike standard 12V accessory outlets — which draw from a small auxiliary battery and cap out around 150W — V2L taps the main 64–100kWh drive pack to deliver up to 3.6kW of continuous AC power.

What Does Not Support V2L
- Tesla (all models): No V2L via adapter in any market.
- VW ID.4 / ID.3: Bidirectional charging planned but not activated in production vehicles as of 2026.
- Nissan Leaf: Uses CHAdeMO for V2H — not compatible with Type 2 or J1772 V2L adapters.
- Chevy Bolt / Bolt EUV: No bidirectional charging hardware.
How V2L Works — The Technical Logic
- Adapter inserted into charging port
- 2,000Ω resistor signals vehicle electronics
- Vehicle interprets as V2L discharge request
- Onboard inverter converts DC → AC
- Power flows to adapter's output socket
🔍 Method 2 — Exterior V2L Outlet
E-GMP select trims · V2L-US adapter
IONIQ 5, EV6, GV60 include a dedicated exterior V2L socket — permanently in discharge mode.
No CP trigger required — plug in and power flows instantly.
Which Adapter Do You Need?
60-Second Selector
| Your Market | Your Port Type | Compatible Vehicles | Adapter | Output |
| US | J1772 exterior V2L outlet | IONIQ 5, EV6, GV60 | V2L-US → | 15A / 1.8kW / NEMA 5-15 |
| EU | Type 2 AC port | E-GMP, BYD Atto 3/Seal, MG4 | V2L-EU → | 16A / 3.5kW / EU multi-socket |
| EU | CCS2 combined port | E-GMP, BYD Atto 3/Seal, MG4 | V2L-Pro → | 16A / 3.5kW / EU AC |
V2L-EU vs V2L-Pro — How to Choose
- V2L-EU — Type 2 plug. Lighter, fits AC portion of any CCS2 or pure Type 2 socket.
- V2L-Pro — CCS2 plug. Engages full combined socket with DC pin lock. More secure.
Both deliver 16A / 3.5kW. On all EU-spec vehicles in this guide, either adapter works.
Why 1.8kW vs 3.5kW? Grid voltage difference. North America: 120V × 15A = 1.8kW. Europe: 230V × 16A = 3.7kW.
