The V3 Supercharger screen shows 250 kW available. Your Bolt is drawing 55. The station is fine. The adapter is fine. The Bolt's DC charger has a 55 kW ceiling built into its hardware — the station can offer more, the car can't accept it. Here's what that means for road trips, which adapter you actually need, and how the math plays out.

The Chevy Bolt EV/EUV uses a CCS1 port on 2022–2023 models and a native NACS port on 2024+ models. A NACS-to-CCS1 adapter (500A / 1,000V DC) can enable access at compatible, authorized Tesla Supercharger sites for CCS1 Bolts — but the Bolt's 55 kW DC ceiling means session times run 50–60 minutes, regardless of station power.

Step 01 — Identify your port

What Charging Port Does the Chevy Bolt EV/EUV Have?

The 2022–2023 Bolt EV/EUV uses a CCS1 port. Handles AC Level 1/2 (J1772 section) and DC fast charging (DC pins below). DC ceiling: 55 kW.

The 2024+ Bolt EV (redesigned) uses a native NACS port (SAE J3400). Can access Superchargers directly at authorized sites — no adapter needed for DC. Note: confirm model year for NACS status — the 2024 redesign is a distinct vehicle from the 2022–2023 generation.

Be direct: the adapter solves the connector problem (NACS station ↔ CCS1 car). It does not change the Bolt's 55 kW DC hardware limit. That limit is in the car's onboard charger design. How Long Does the Bolt Actually Take to Charge at a Supercharger?

This is the section that earns trust. Be specific and honest.

The Bolt charges at the same speed at a V3 or V4 Supercharger as at a lower-powered CCS1 station — because the car, not the station, is the limiting factor. 55 kW is the Bolt's hardware limit across all DC fast charging scenarios. This is the same whether you're using a NACS-to-CCS1 adapter at a compatible, authorized Supercharger or plugging directly into an Electrify America 350 kW stall.

Context for planning: A 10–80% DC charge adds roughly 150 miles of range in ~55 minutes. For a road trip stop, plan 60 minutes at a Supercharger. Compared to an IONIQ 5 or Mach-E, that's 2–3× longer at the same station. For daily driving with home Level 2 charging, this difference never comes up.

Is the Supercharger Adapter Worth It for a Bolt Owner?

The honest answer: if you drive a Bolt mostly within 100 miles of home with overnight charging, the adapter adds minimal practical value. If you take regular highway trips and a compatible, authorized Supercharger is the best-positioned DC option on your route, the coverage benefit is real — just plan for 55-minute stops and verify station availability in the Tesla app before departure.
