The Lucid Air has been NACS-native since the 2024 model year, which means Tesla Superchargers work without any adapter. The charging scenario that does require a small adapter is J1772 — the older Level 2 standard still common at hotels, parking garages, and destination chargers. This guide covers every charging scenario a Lucid Air owner encounters and the exact adapter (if any) needed for each.
Lucid Air Connector: What Port Does It Have?
The 2024+ Lucid Air uses a NACS port — the North American Charging Standard (SAE J3400), the same connector used by Tesla vehicles. Lucid adopted NACS ahead of most non-Tesla brands, giving Lucid Air owners direct access to Tesla’s Supercharger network without any adapter.
Pre-2024 Lucid Air vehicles shipped with a CCS1 port. If you drive a 2022–2023 Lucid Air, your charging adapter situation is different — see the CCS1 section below.

Scenario 1 — J1772 Destination Chargers (Hotels, Parking Garages, Workplaces)
J1772 (SAE J1772) is the older AC Level 2 charging standard still installed at the majority of destination chargers in North America. Hotels, shopping centers, airport parking, and many workplace chargers use J1772. Your NACS port cannot physically plug into a J1772 station without an adapter.

Adapter options
The Lucid Air Grand Touring and Pure support up to 19.2 kW (80A at 240V) on AC Level 2 — the highest OBC rating of any production EV. To deliver the full 19.2 kW, both the EVSE and the adapter must support 80A. A 50A adapter caps the session at ~12 kW.

Scenario 2 — Tesla Superchargers
The Lucid Air 2024+ connects to Tesla Superchargers directly — no adapter needed. The NACS port is physically and electrically identical to Tesla’s NACS port. Charging initiates after Lucid authenticates through Tesla’s network (requires Tesla app setup on first use).
You need the ChargePapa DC-Link NACS to CCS1 Adapter (500A / IP65) — see the CCS1 section below.
Scenario 3 — Non-Tesla Public Fast Chargers (Electrify America, EVgo, Blink)
Electrify America, EVgo, and most third-party DCFC networks operate CCS1 connectors in the US — not NACS. The 2024+ Lucid Air with a NACS port cannot use CCS1 DC fast chargers without an adapter.
As of mid-2026, NACS-to-CCS1 DC adapters for this direction (NACS car at CCS1 station) are uncommon. The market assumption is that CCS1 networks will gradually add NACS connectors — check station availability before long trips where Supercharger coverage is sparse.
Electrify America and EVgo work natively — no adapter required.
Scenario 4 — Pre-2024 Lucid Air (CCS1 Port): Supercharger Access
If you drive a 2022 or 2023 Lucid Air, your vehicle has a CCS1 port. Tesla Superchargers use NACS. To bridge this, you need a passive CCS1-to-NACS adapter.
Both NACS and CCS1 use the same PLC (Power Line Communication) protocol for DC fast charging, which means a passive adapter can bridge the two standards. Rated to 500A / 1000V DC with IP65 weatherproofing. Actual charging speed is capped by your vehicle’s DC charging rate and the Supercharger stall’s output.
