Vehicle Compatibility
The MRS-EJ is compatible with all Type 2 (IEC 62196-2) port vehicles — the universal AC charging standard across Europe and Australia. The 22kW three-phase model is particularly suited to vehicles with high-capacity onboard chargers such as the Renault Zoe (22kW AC) and Mercedes EQS (22kW AC). Tesla EU-spec vehicles (Model 3 / Model Y) use a Type 2 inlet natively and do not require an adapter.

⚠️ Compatibility based on manufacturer specifications for European-market vehicles. Actual AC charging speed is limited by the vehicle's onboard charger capacity. Tesla EU-spec vehicles use Type 2 natively and do not require an adapter.
🏠 Who Is the MRS-EJ Built For?
For the homeowner in Munich or Amsterdam with a single-phase 230V residential connection and a Volkswagen ID.4 or BMW i4, the MRS-EJ-07032 delivers a full 32A Type 2 charge — adding approximately 40–50km of range per hour. The wide-voltage input (85V–265V) ensures stable operation even on sites with fluctuating grid supply.
For apartment blocks and shared parking in Paris, Madrid, or Stockholm where three-phase 380V infrastructure is standard, the MRS-EJ-11016 (11kW / 16A per phase) provides RFID-secured, app-managed charging for residents without requiring a dedicated high-current circuit per bay.
For workplace charging in Frankfurt, Zurich, or Copenhagen where employees drive vehicles with high-capacity onboard chargers such as the Renault Zoe (22kW AC) or Mercedes EQS (22kW AC), the MRS-EJ-22032 delivers the full 22kW three-phase output — cutting a full charge cycle to under 2 hours for compatible vehicles.
For boutique hotels and Airbnb hosts in Oslo, Amsterdam, or Barcelona, the MRS-EJ's RFID access control and Bluetooth app management make it a premium guest amenity that works with virtually every Type 2 EV sold in Europe — without requiring a network subscription or SIM card.
✅ Standards & Certifications
Q: Is the MRS-EJ-22032 compatible with my vehicle's 22kW onboard charger?
A: The MRS-EJ-22032 is rated at 32A per phase / 22kW at 380V. It is compatible with vehicles that have a three-phase onboard charger rated at 11kW or 22kW — such as the Renault Zoe (22kW AC) and Mercedes EQS (22kW AC). Vehicles with single-phase onboard chargers will charge at their maximum single-phase rate even when connected to this station.
Q: What is the difference between the three MRS-EJ models?
A: All three use Type 2 (IEC 62196-2). MRS-EJ-07032: single-phase 85V–265V / 32A / 7kW — for homes without three-phase supply. MRS-EJ-11016: three-phase 380V / 16A per phase / 11kW — for apartment blocks and workplaces. MRS-EJ-22032: three-phase 380V / 32A per phase / 22kW — highest throughput for commercial sites and 22kW OBC vehicles.
Q: What is Type B RCD and why does it matter for EV charging?
A: A Type B RCD detects both AC residual fault currents (≥30mA) and DC residual fault currents (≥6mA). Standard Type A RCDs only detect AC and pulsating DC faults. Because modern EV onboard chargers can produce smooth DC leakage currents, IEC 62955 recommends Type B protection for EV charging installations. The MRS-EJ includes both Type A (30mA) and Type B (AC 30mA / DC 6mA) protection.
Q: Is the MRS-EJ TÜV and CB certified?
A: Yes. The ChargePapa MRS-EJ has passed TÜV product safety certification and CB (IECEE CB Scheme) international safety testing. It is also compliant with LVD (IEC 61851-1) and EMC (IEC 61851-21-2).
Q: Does the MRS-EJ support DC fast charging?
A: No. The ChargePapa MRS-EJ is an AC Level 2 charging station only. It does not support CCS2 DC fast charging. For DC fast charging solutions, please refer to ChargePapa's DC-Link series.
Q: What are the SKUs and connectivity options?
A: MRS-EJ-07032 (7kW / single-phase / 32A), MRS-EJ-11016 (11kW / three-phase / 16A per phase), MRS-EJ-22032 (22kW / three-phase / 32A per phase). All TÜV and CB certified. Connectivity: WiFi and Bluetooth. RFID card access included. No 4G module or OCPP network management.
⚠️ Critical Usage Note
- Professional electrical installation by a qualified electrician is mandatory. Do not self-install.
- The MRS-EJ-07032 requires a single-phase dedicated circuit. The MRS-EJ-11016 and MRS-EJ-22032 require a three-phase 380V supply — confirm your site's electrical infrastructure before ordering.
- Do not connect to a standard household socket outlet. A dedicated hardwired circuit is required.
- Ensure your electrical panel has sufficient capacity before installation. A load calculation is required.
- Inspect cable and connector regularly. Discontinue use if damage, fraying, or overheating is detected.
- This unit is designed for AC Level 2 charging only. It does not support DC fast charging.
- Verify regional certification and installation requirements with your local authority before installation.
